defense contract audit agency (DCAA)

What is DCAA? The Defense Contract Audit Agency, under the authority,  direction, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense. The DCAA is responsible for performing all contract audits for the United States Department of Defense (DoD), as well as other government agencies. The DCAA also provides accounting and financial advisory services regarding contracts and subcontracts to all DoD Components responsible for procurement and contract administration.

Today, the DCAA consists of approximately 4,000 people located at more than 300 field audit offices throughout the United States, Europe, and in the Pacific.

The DCAA's main interest is to ensure that the funds awarded through various contracts are spent according to DCAA requirements. The purpose of the agency, simply put, is to avoid overpayment and fraud.

Unfortunately, these procedures often complicate the process for winning and performing on government contracts, particularly for smaller firms. Y-OPA can assist you with meeting these requirements. Click here to submit a request for a free consultation.
